My name is Prof. Arshia Khajooria Hazarika. I am an architect, academician, and researcher with over two decades of experience in the field of architecture and education. I hold a Ph.D. from the School of Planning and Architecture, Delhi, which has shaped my approach toward research-driven and context-sensitive design. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to teach at institutions such as Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University ,Nitte School of Architecture, Bangalore and Amity University Punjab. My work spans teaching, research, and curriculum development, with a strong focus on sustainability, traditional knowledge systems, and contemporary architectural challenges. I have been actively involved in the academic community as a reviewer, keynote speaker, and conference chair at various national and international platforms. My research contributions include over 25 published papers in reputed journals and conferences, and I have also been recognized with awards such as the Best Paper Presentation Award and Teachers Award. Beyond academics, I am deeply interested in documenting and conserving traditional architectural practices—particularly regional crafts and heritage systems—which also informs my ongoing writing projects. Now, coming to why I want to be a mentor: Architecture is not just about learning software or drawing plans—it is about thinking, observing, questioning, and evolving. When I look back at my own journey, I realize how important guidance and mentorship were in shaping my path. That is exactly what I hope to offer you.As a mentor, my role is not to instruct you on what to do, but to help you discover your own direction. I aim to: • Support your academic growth, • Encourage critical thinking, • Help you connect theory with practice, • And guide you in making informed career choices. I believe every student has unique potential, and mentorship is about nurturing that individuality rather than imposing a fixed path. I look forward to working with all of you, learning together, and helping you grow into thoughtful and responsible architects.
