I am a Ph.D. scholar in Building Science and Energy Efficiency at IIT Kharagpur, with a strong academic foundation in architecture and a focused research trajectory in sustainable built environments. My work explores energy consumption patterns in residential buildings, climate-responsive design strategies, and performance-based simulation using tools like EnergyPlus and Rhino–Grasshopper workflows. Through my research, conference engagements, and academic collaborations, I have developed a systems-level understanding of how design decisions translate into real-world building performance. Alongside research, I have been actively involved in teaching assistance and mentoring undergraduate architecture students—guiding them through design thinking, technical clarity, and critical evaluation. This exposure has helped me recognize a recurring gap in architectural education: students often navigate complex academic and career decisions without access to honest, experience-driven guidance. As a mentor on Commonsia, I aim to bridge this gap. I want to create a space where students can ask the questions they hesitate to raise in studios—about portfolios, career paths, research opportunities, and the realities of professional practice. My approach to mentorship is grounded in clarity, constructive critique, and contextual understanding—whether it’s refining a portfolio, decoding building performance tools, or aligning academic work with industry expectations. I see mentorship not just as guidance, but as a collaborative process of helping students build confidence, direction, and a stronger sense of purpose within the discipline of architecture. Commonsia’s community-first approach strongly resonates with my belief that meaningful learning often happens outside formal classrooms—through dialogue, reflection, and shared experiences.
