Akshay Ajith is an architect, planner and researcher currently based at IIT Roorkee. He began his practice in Auroville, where he worked on climate responsive buildings and hands-on construction projects rooted in sustainability and natural materials. Over time, his work expanded from building scale design to regional planning, using GIS and spatial tools to understand landscapes, risks, and development patterns. His research focuses on disaster resilient planning, spatial mapping and prediction of hazards like floods and landslides, and understanding how communities perceive and respond to risk. He brings a blend of on-ground design experience and data-driven research to support more resilient and context-sensitive planning practices.
